Kazakhstan Researchers Develop Carbothermic Technology to Extract Lithium From Low-Grade Aluminosilicate Ores at Double the Concentration of Conventional Methods
Kazakhstan's national minerals processing centre has developed a carbothermic smelting method that extracts lithium from low-grade aluminosilicate ores at 12 to 14% lithium oxide concentration — roughly double conventional yields — while also producing ferrosilicon and reducing sulphuric acid consumption.
