Ros Lund was the Mining Lead for the Department for Business and Trade, focusing on Eurasia. Ros produced Europe’s largest critical minerals conference in 2011 and contributed to the first UK Critical Mineral Strategy in 2022. Ros began her career in finance with Barclays and American Express.

Daniyar Makhanov has extensive experience across Kazakhstan’s infrastructure and natural resources sectors. His work has focused on finance, strategy and mineral exploration, with particular emphasis on investment, project development and the evolving critical minerals landscape across Central Asia.

One of Kazakhstan’s most experienced statesmen and diplomats. He served twice as Minister of Foreign Affairs and as Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom and the United States, bringing deep expertise in government relations, diplomacy and international economic cooperation.

An international mining finance and investment specialist with 27 years of experience at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. He led mining strategy, investment structures and policy engagement across emerging markets and has advised major mining companies on finance and energy-transition matters.

Professor of Applied Mineralogy, Camborne School of Mines
A leading international authority on critical minerals, rare earth elements and responsible mineral development. Her work spans mineral processing, critical raw-material supply chains and UK critical minerals policy. She was awarded an OBE for services to higher education and critical minerals.
